Apple Swirl Pastry (Învârtită cu Mere)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the apple filling:

    • Peel, wash, and grate the apples.

    • Place them in a pan with 2 tbsp sugar and cook until all the juice evaporates.

    • Add 1 tbsp butter, stir well, then set aside to cool.

  1. Prepare the dough:

    • In a bowl, mix flour, yeast, sugar, and warm milk. Let the yeast activate for 10 minutes.

    • Add oil, eggs, yogurt, and salt.

    • Knead for about 10 minutes, until the dough comes off the sides of the bowl.

    • Cover and let rise for about 30 minutes, or until it triples in volume.

  1. Assemble the pastry:

    • Divide the dough into 2 equal parts.

    • Sprinkle flour on the counter and roll out each piece into a rectangle.

    • Spread the apple filling evenly over the dough.

    • Roll tightly and place seam-side down in a baking tray.

    • Brush with egg yolk mixed with milk.

  1. Bake:

    • Preheat the oven to 165°C.

    • Bake for about 1 hour, until golden brown.

  1. Serve:

      Let cool slightly, slice, and enjoy with powdered sugar or plain.
