Prepare the Dough
- In a large bowl, mix margarine and brown sugar until well combined.
- Add vanilla essence, water, and baking powder, then continue mixing until the sugar dissolves.
- Gradually incorporate the flour in two rounds, mixing until a soft dough forms.
- Place the dough in a plastic bag and refrigerate for about 10 minutes.

Prepare the Filling & Base
- While the dough chills, finely chop the dough stick or nuts for added texture.
- After chilling, divide the dough into four pieces, setting one quarter aside for decoration.
- In a greased baking tray, break apart the remaining dough and press it down evenly with your fingers.
- Spread baking jam over the dough, ensuring an even layer.

Decorate & Bake
- Sprinkle chopped dough stick/nuts over the jam layer.
- Take the reserved dough, break it into small pieces, and scatter them on top for decoration.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for 50 minutes, or until golden brown.
