Instructions
-
Prepare the Dough
- In a bowl, sift 300 g of flour and add 8 g of fresh yeast.
- Pour 100 ml of lukewarm milk over the yeast and let it rise for 10 minutes.
- In the meantime, beat 1 egg and set it aside.
- Add 1/2 teaspoon of salt (keeping it away from the yeast) and 1 tablespoon of vanilla essence into the mixture.
- Start kneading the dough, adding the beaten egg once everything is combined.
- Transfer the dough to the worktop, incorporate 50 g of soft butter, and continue kneading for about 10 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a bowl greased with a little oil, cover it, and let it rise for 1 hour.
-
Prepare the Filling
- While the dough is rising, cut the raha into thin slices (or your preferred filling such as chocolate cream or pudding).
-
Shape the Dough Sticks
- Once the dough has risen beautifully, transfer it to the worktop and divide it into 4 equal pieces.
- Roll each piece into a rectangular shape using a rolling pin.
- Spread the raha filling (or alternative filling) on one edge of the dough rectangle.
- Roll the dough tightly, sealing the ends to secure the filling inside.
-
Rise and Bake
- Place the rolled dough sticks on a baking tray, making sure they are not touching each other.
- Leave the dough sticks to rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Once risen, brush the dough sticks with a beaten egg and sprinkle a little melted butter on top for a golden finish.
- Bake the dough sticks in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until they are golden brown on top.
-
Serve
- Remove the dough sticks from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving.
- Serve warm, ideally with a cup of tea or as a treat for the whole family.
