  1. Prepare the cocoa milk

    • Pour the cold milk into a large bowl or pot.

    • Add the cocoa powder.

    • Add the sugar, adjusting the amount to your taste.

    • Mix well until smooth.

  1. Heat the mixture

    • Place the milk mixture on the stove over medium heat.

    • Heat until it starts to boil gently.

    • Let it simmer for 1–2 minutes.

  1. Hydrate the gelatin

    • Place the gelatin in a separate bowl.

    • Add the cold water.

    • Mix well and let it hydrate for a few minutes.

  1. Add the chocolate

    • Break the chocolate into small pieces.

    • Add it to the hot milk mixture.

    • Stir continuously until the chocolate is fully melted and smooth.

  1. Cool slightly

    • Remove the pot from the heat.

    • Let the mixture cool for about 5 minutes.

  1. Prepare the mold

    • Wash and dry a milk carton or use a bowl or mold.

    • Lightly grease it with a little oil.

  1. Combine everything

    • Add the hydrated gelatin to the warm (not hot) chocolate milk.

    • Stir well until the gelatin is completely dissolved.

    • Add the rum essence, if using.

  1. Chill the jelly

    • Pour the mixture into the prepared mold.

    • Refrigerate for at least 2–3 hours, or preferably overnight.
