Ingredients
Instructions
-
Clean the Eggs
- Place the eggs in a large bowl.
- Add water, 1 tablespoon of baking soda, and 1 tablespoon of vinegar.
- Use an abrasive sponge to wash the eggs thoroughly and remove any dirt or residue.
-
Prepare the Plants and Eggs
- Head to your garden and pick your favorite edible plants (such as leaves or flowers). Be sure to choose safe, non-toxic plants.
- Fill a small bowl with water and place the plants in the water.
- Carefully place the plants onto the still-wet eggs, making sure they stick.
-
Tie the Plants to the Eggs
- Once the plants are placed on the eggs, use a piece of string or a rubber band to secure the plants around the egg. You can also tie the plants tightly with a stick, trimming off any excess.
- Repeat this process for each egg you wish to dye.
-
Prepare the Dye
- In a large saucepan, add onion skins (yellow and red, about as much as you have), about 1 liter of water, 1 tablespoon of salt, and 4 tablespoons of vinegar.
- Bring the mixture to a boil, allowing it to blanch for a few minutes until the water turns a rich, deep color.
-
Boil the Eggs
- Carefully place the prepared eggs with plants into the onion dye mixture.
- Let them boil for about 5-7 minutes until they reach your desired color.
- Once done, remove the eggs from the pan and let them cool in water for about half an hour.
-
Final Touches
- For a beautiful finish, you can brush the eggs with the onion skins to add a nice sheen and deepen the color.
