Savory Puff Pastry Bites with Bacon, Spinach & Cheese
Ingredients

sheet of puff pastry
1
tablespoon cream cheese (per puff pastry half)
Grated cheddar cheese (or cașcaval)
1
handful of spinach, roughly chopped
½
red bell pepper, finely diced
A few slices of cooked bacon, chopped
A few slices of chicken ham or any deli meat
1
egg yolk (for brushing)
Poppy seeds (for topping)
Instructions
Cook the Bacon:
Fry the bacon slices in a pan until crispy.
Transfer to a paper towel and let cool.
Once cooled, chop into small pieces.
Prepare the Fillings:
Grate the cheddar cheese (or substitute with cașcaval).
Roughly chop the spinach.
Dice the red bell pepper.
Cut the chicken ham into smaller pieces if necessary.
Assemble the Pastries:
Preheat the oven to
200°C (392°F)
.
Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
Place the puff pastry on a work surface.
Spread
cream cheese
over
half
of the puff pastry sheet.
Sprinkle on grated cheese, chopped bacon, chicken ham, spinach, and red bell pepper.
Fold the other half of the pastry over the filling and press gently to seal.
Cut and Finish:
Cut the filled pastry into bite-sized squares or desired shapes.
Place them on the prepared baking tray.
Brush the tops with
egg yolk
.
Sprinkle with
poppy seeds
.
Bake:
Bake in the preheated oven for about
15 minutes
, or until golden and puffed.
