Plum Gomboți (Plum Dumplings)

Ingredients
    For the dough:
  • 600 grams of potatoes
  • Water (enough to cover the potatoes)
  • Salt (to taste)
  • 1 egg
  • 170 grams of flour
  • 40 grams of semolina
  • Vanilla (to taste)
  • For the breadcrumb coating:
  • 60 grams of butter
  • 150 grams of breadcrumbs
  • 50 grams of sugar
  • Cinnamon (to taste)
  • Ginger (to taste)
  • Others:
  • 12 plums (seeds removed)
Instructions
  1. Prepare the Potatoes:
    • Peel and cut 600 grams of potatoes into smaller pieces.
    • Place them in a large saucepan, cover with water, add salt, and let them boil until soft.
  2. Prepare the Breadcrumb Coating:
    • Melt 60 grams of butter in a pan, being careful not to burn it.
    • Add 150 grams of breadcrumbs and brown them slightly until they change color, stirring continuously.
    • Add 50 grams of sugar, cinnamon, and ginger. Mix well and let it cool on a plate.
  3. Prepare the Plums:

    Remove the seeds from 12 plums.

  4. Prepare the Dough:
    • Once the potatoes are soft, drain them and let them cool.
    • Mash or grate the potatoes.
    • Add 1 egg, 170 grams of flour, 40 grams of semolina, vanilla, and a little salt to the potatoes. Mix everything well to form a very soft dough.
    • Wet your palms with water to handle the dough easily.
  5. Form the Dumplings:
    • Flatten a small portion of dough with your fingers, place a plum inside, and form a dumpling (gomboți).
    • Repeat until all plums are used.
  6. Cook the Dumplings:
    • Boil the dumplings in salted water until they rise to the surface.
    • Remove and roll them in the breadcrumb mixture.
