- Potatoes (quantity as desired)
- Salt (to taste)
- Black pepper (to taste)
- Olive oil (for drizzling)
- Sour cream (to taste)
- Cheddar cheese (or mozzarella/any cheese you have, grated)
- Breadcrumbs (2-3 tablespoons)
- Butter (for greasing the pan)
- Prepare the Potatoes
- Wash the potatoes well, then cut them into slices (not too thin or thick).
- Boil the potatoes in water, with a pinch of salt, until they soften. Drain and let them cool slightly.
- Peel the boiled potatoes once cooled.
- Layer the Gratin
- In a frying pan, melt butter and use it to grease the pan.
- Place a layer of sliced potatoes in the pan, seasoning with a pinch of salt, black pepper, and a drizzle of olive oil.
- Spread sour cream evenly over the potatoes.
- Sprinkle grated cheddar cheese (or your choice of cheese) on top of the cream layer.
- Repeat the process with another layer of potatoes, seasoning and topping with more sour cream and cheese.
- Finish with a sprinkle of breadcrumb, more cheese, and a drizzle of olive oil.
- Bake
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (390°F).
- Bake the gratin in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes or until the top is golden and bubbly.
- Serve
- Let the gratin cool slightly before serving.
