Gratin Potatoes with Cheese and Sour Cream | Cartofi gratinați cu brânză și smântână

Ingredients
  • Potatoes (quantity as desired)
  • Salt (to taste)
  • Black pepper (to taste)
  • Olive oil (for drizzling)
  • Sour cream (to taste)
  • Cheddar cheese (or mozzarella/any cheese you have, grated)
  • Breadcrumbs (2-3 tablespoons)
  • Butter (for greasing the pan)
Instructions
  1. Prepare the Potatoes
    1. Wash the potatoes well, then cut them into slices (not too thin or thick).
    2. Boil the potatoes in water, with a pinch of salt, until they soften. Drain and let them cool slightly.
    3. Peel the boiled potatoes once cooled.
  2. Layer the Gratin
    1. In a frying pan, melt butter and use it to grease the pan.
    2. Place a layer of sliced potatoes in the pan, seasoning with a pinch of salt, black pepper, and a drizzle of olive oil.
    3. Spread sour cream evenly over the potatoes.
    4. Sprinkle grated cheddar cheese (or your choice of cheese) on top of the cream layer.
    5. Repeat the process with another layer of potatoes, seasoning and topping with more sour cream and cheese.
    6. Finish with a sprinkle of breadcrumb, more cheese, and a drizzle of olive oil.
  3. Bake
    1. Preheat the oven to 200°C (390°F).
    2. Bake the gratin in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes or until the top is golden and bubbly.
  4. Serve
    1. Let the gratin cool slightly before serving.
