Fluffy Pretzel Dogs (Covridogi) – Soft Dough Wrapped Around Juicy Sausages
Ingredients
For the dough:

milliliters warm water

A little oil (for greasing the bowl)
For assembling:

small sausages or frankfurters (cremvuști)
A bit of extra flour (for rolling the dough)
For the topping:

egg yolk

tablespoons milk
Sesame seeds (optional)
Instructions
Prepare the Dough:
In a large mixing bowl, add warm water, yeast, and sugar. Stir well and let it activate for 5 minutes.
Add flour, salt, and softened butter.
Mix until a dough forms, then transfer to a floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes, until smooth and non-sticky.
Grease the bowl with a little oil, place the dough back in, cover with plastic wrap, and let it rise for 1 hour in a warm place.
Prepare the Sausages:
While the dough rises, prepare your sausages (cremvuști). Pat them dry if needed and set aside.
Assemble the Pretzel Dogs:
Once the dough has doubled in size, lightly flour your work surface and roll out the dough into a square.
Cut into strips (wide enough to wrap around the sausages).
Take each strip and wrap it spirally around a sausage.
Final Rise:
Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
Place the wrapped sausages (covridogi) on the tray and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
Egg Wash & Topping:
In a small bowl, mix the egg yolk with the milk.
Brush each pretzel dog with this mixture.
Sprinkle sesame seeds on top if desired.
Bake:
Preheat the oven to 200°C (390°F).
Bake the pretzel dogs for about 25 minutes or until golden brown.
Best served warm, with mustard, ketchup, or your favorite dipping sauce.
