Instructions
Preparing the dough
In a large bowl, mix the lukewarm water, yeast, and sugar. Stir well.
Add the flour and salt to the mixture. Once the dough starts to form, transfer it to a work surface and knead for 5 minutes.
Optionally, add olive oil to the dough during kneading.
Grease a bowl with oil, place the dough inside, cover it with plastic wrap and a clean towel, and let it rise for an hour.
Shaping and filling the pies
After an hour, the dough should have risen significantly. Dust your palms with flour as the dough is quite soft.
Tear off pieces of dough and shape them into balls.
Flatten each ball and place a dollop of jam in the center. Here, prune and strawberry jams are used, but you can use any jam you prefer.
Seal the pies well to prevent the jam from leaking during frying.
Frying the pies
Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
Carefully place the pies in the hot oil and fry them until they are golden brown on top.
Once fried, remove the pies from the oil and place them on paper towels to drain any excess oil.
