Crispy Pan-Fried Sandwiches (Sandvișuri Pane)
The perfect way to use up old bread and make a cheesy, golden treat!
Ingredients
Bread slices
(slightly thicker, not crumbly – any type)
Cheddar cheese (or your preferred cheese), sliced thinly
Salami
(or any cold cuts you like, e.g., spicy pepper salami)

(adjust for quantity)

mayonnaise
(optional, can substitute ketchup or tomato paste)
Salt and black pepper, to taste

A pinch of oregano
Olive oil

Instructions

Prepare the Bread:
Cut bread into slightly thicker slices (as shown in the video).
Set them aside on a chopping board.

Prepare the Egg Mixture:
In a large bowl, break 3 eggs.
Add 1 tablespoon sour cream, season with salt, pepper, and oregano.
Whisk everything well until smooth.

Assemble the Sandwiches:
Spread a thin layer of mayonnaise on each bread slice (or use ketchup/tomato paste as an alternative).
Place 2 slices of cheddar cheese and your choice of salami between two bread slices to form a sandwich.

Cook the Sandwiches:
Heat a pan with a little olive oil over medium heat.
Dip each sandwich carefully into the egg mixture, coating both sides.
Fry in the hot pan on all sides until golden brown and crispy.
