A traditional Romanian dessert made with soft, fluffy dough and a rich apple filling — just like grandma used to make.
Peel, wash, and grate the apples.
Place them in a pan with 2 tbsp sugar and cook until all the juice evaporates.
Add 1 tbsp butter, stir well, then set aside to cool.
In a bowl, mix flour, yeast, sugar, and warm milk. Let the yeast activate for 10 minutes.
Add oil, eggs, yogurt, and salt.
Knead for about 10 minutes, until the dough comes off the sides of the bowl.
Cover and let rise for about 30 minutes, or until it triples in volume.
Divide the dough into 2 equal parts.
Sprinkle flour on the counter and roll out each piece into a rectangle.
Spread the apple filling evenly over the dough.
Roll tightly and place seam-side down in a baking tray.
Brush with egg yolk mixed with milk.
